Lamy - No Design Writes Better

Willkommen... Welcome...

Are you having some difficulty locating more information on your older Orthos, Artus or even Lamy writing instrument(s)? You are not alone, we too have spent a lot of our time going through that exercise, and usually to no avail! With the idea in mind that it can be quite frustrating, we've started putting together a site that potentially will hold tons of information one might potentially be looking for concerning Lamy, especially concerning the older, vintage products that are generally no longer available through the normal, current distribution channels.

What We're Doing Here...

Over the days and weeks to come, it is our intention to create some sort of useful reference page(s) here with general information on the various pen models produced by Orthos Fullhalter-Fabrik Company (1930-1945), Artus Fullhaltergesell Kaufmann and Company (1945-1952), and C. Josef Lamy GmbH (1952-Present) in Heidelberg, Germany during the years of 1930 through the present time. Over the years, Lamy continues to focus on producing exceptional writing intruments and tends to overlook both the company's and their products history, especially that which came before the release of the Lamy 2000 in 1966. Lamy considers 1966 as their greatest “water-shed” period and anything that transpired prior to that seems pretty insignificant and irrelevant to them. While I do not wish nor intend to place words in their mouth, my statements are based upon the comments of Dr. Manfred Lamy and C. Josef Lamy GmbH representatives and their lack of responses to repeated service requests. we certainly are not attempting to make Lamy or anyone else wrong, just trying to explain the choices that they made and state the facts as they are.

Since there seems to be fairly detailed information available on most of Lamy's current models. At least initially, we will generally be focusing on past, previous and discontinued models first until such time that we feel we have exhausted the information that is available. There maybe a few exceptions to this. A case in point would be the Lamy 2000, since this model's momentous influences span Lamy's history from 1966 until the present time, more than 40 plus years. There are a few others, so please forgive us if an occasional current product comes up, and we address it (at least partially).

We Could Really Use Your Help...

Of course your knowledge and assistance with this effort would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated. Obviously, there must be an occasional mistake, error or perhaps an omission in which we currently are yet unaware. It would be extremely helpful if you could take a few moments, review these page(s) and contact us with your input, opinions, corrections, and even suggestions. We would be very happy to acknowledge / give you credit for your valuable information and sincerely appreciated assistance. In addition, if you are aware of any publication and/or person that could provide additional information about Orthos, Artus or Lamy, either the companies themselves, or their products, please feel free to provide us with what and/or who they are and where we could possibly find it/them. Thank you in advance for your helpful assistance. We really sincerely appreciate anything you can do to help us out with this monumental effort.

Of Special Note: We are currently looking for single copys of (or scans), to temporarily borrow or purchase of Hans Heger's books, written in German by Hans Hegers for C. Josef Lamy GmbH and published by them. To the best of our knowledge there are four. They are Since Man Picked Up The Pen (The title in German would be something like “Da der Mensch nahm die Feder”), Lamy - Forms of Success (Formen des Erfolgs), Pens for Connoisseurs (Füllhalter für Kenner), and The Pleasure of Writing (Die Lust am Schreiben). If you currently have a copy or copies, please let us know. Ideally, we would prefer scans or borrowing them (we will pay for round-trip postage, receipts and insurance), we have only limited resources and may not be able to purchase them, at least not right away... we will also need to have the information in them translated into English so there are additional costs that we must consider. We do not believe that there are English versions produced or available for any of these. Either way, please let us know if you have one or more of them and you are willing to share or part with them. Thank You, In Advance.

One final important note that should be mentioned here, up front. It is one of those short comments concerning the use and dissemination of the information provided here on our site. This site has only been up on the net for a few weeks and already we're finding copied text from it around the web. There was and is a lot of time, energy and resources that have gone into compiling all of the information here. If you decide to mention or use this information anywhere else on the web, please be so kind as to provide a link of some sort of acknowledgement of where the information came from. If it is your intention to use any of our research commercially (and that includes on eBay), no matter how small the bit is, please contact us and ask permission... it's the right thing to do. Thank you in advance.
